SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL EEL FISHERY CO-OPERATIVES
An important social development programme that forms part of the Eel Development Strategy (EDS) is the establishment, development and implementation of a system of rural community based fishing co-operatives (primary producers). These co-operatives’ activities are sponsored by various international Development Agencies, including the World Bank Projet Soutien pour le Développement Rural (PSDR) programme, which underwrite the economic viability of any investment in these structures. We believe structured investment in the eel co-operative will allow the rural economically disadvantaged communities to empower themselves by providing them with access to International markets through the COE structures.
Ripple Fish believes in the old adage that if you give someone a fish, he has food for a day. Teach him to fish, “and manage the resource sustainably”, he has food for a lifetime. |
