REGIONAL OPERATIONS

MAURITIUS

Our head office is based in Mauritius. In recent years, Mauritius has succeeded in establishing itself as a burgeoning seafood hub, with excellent air links, good infrastructure, a stable democracy and a growing economy. Mauritius is also extremely well placed to be the centre of our business operations in East and Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands.

MADAGASCAR

Because of its proximity to the eel’s spawning ground, Madagascar is key to the success of operations in the region. Currently, political conditions in Madagascar strongly favour investment. Since 2003, Madagascar has enjoyed a period of stable democracy, with a leadership that welcomes relations with countries looking to invest in Madagascar.

MOZAMBIQUE

Since its first multiparty elections in 1994, Mozambique has enjoyed a period of unprecedented stability, which has allowed the country to throw off its former image as an impoverished, wartorn country. Much remains to be done, but the economic reforms currently in place have achieved great strides in helping to grow the
country’s economy.

SOUTH AFRICA

Financial powerhouse of the region, South Africa is ideally placed to become a major aquaculture centre. Currently, South Africa is perceived as being a water scarce country, and therefore not suitable for aquaculture. In reality, aquaculture is actually a non-consumptive use of water, and with South Africa’s extensive coastline and healthy inland water resources, conditions remain favourable for aquaculture.
